M3 DIN933 Hex Screw surface treatments
1. Pickling / Passivation
A two-step process defined by ASTM A380: ① Pickling in 15–25 % HNO₃ + 1–3 % HF (by volume) at 50–60 °C for 5–15 min removes heat-tint and the chromium-depleted layer from M3 DIN933 Hex Screw; ② Passivation in 20–45 % HNO₃ for 30 min at 40–50 °C increases the Cr₂O₃ passive film thickness to 2–3 nm and raises the pitting potential Eₚ by ≥150 mV. After treatment, M3 DIN933 Hex Screw exhibits a surface roughness Ra of 0.8–1.6 μm and residual Cl⁻ <0.1 μg cm⁻², meeting the corrosion-resistance requirements of ASTM F593/F594 for 18-8 stainless fasteners, suitable for general atmospheric and mildly corrosive environments.

2. Electropolishing Ra ≤0.4 μm
Per ISO 15730, using an electrolyte of 70 % H₃PO₄ + 15 % H₂SO₄ + 15 % CrO₃, a current density of 30–60 A dm⁻² at 55–65 °C for 2–4 min preferentially dissolves micro-peaks, producing a super-finished surface on M3 DIN933 Hex Screw with Ra ≤0.4 μm and Rz ≤2 μm while reducing micro-defects (≥2 μm) by 90 %. The passive film grows to 5–10 nm with a Cr/Fe atomic ratio ≥1.8, raising the pitting potential by another 100 mV. Surface energy drops by 25 %, giving M3 DIN933 Hex Screw a torque coefficient K ≈0.10–0.12 and markedly lowering galling tendency—ideal for high-purity food, semiconductor and medical fasteners.

3. PTFE / Xylan coating
Following ASTM D3294, a two-coat, two-bake process applies a zinc-phosphate primer 5–8 μm thick and a PTFE (or PAI-bonded Xylan 1070/1424) top-coat 15–25 μm thick for a total thickness of 20–30 μm. Curing at 385 °C for 15 min yields a continuous fluoropolymer film with 68 % fluorine content, giving M3 DIN933 Hex Screw a friction coefficient µ=0.04–0.08 and 1 000 h salt-spray resistance (ASTM B117). The coating’s dielectric strength is 60 kV mm⁻¹ and its service temperature range is –195 °C to +260 °C, while it can absorb 0.05 mm assembly tolerance, preventing galvanic corrosion and seizing—widely used on high-strength bolts in marine, chemical and wind-power sectors.

4. Non-magnetic: μr ≤1.2 (after solution treatment)
Per ASTM A342, 316L (≤0.03 %C) is solution-treated at 1 050 °C for 30 min and water-quenched, limiting δ-ferrite content to ≤0.5 % and reducing dislocation density to 10¹⁰ m⁻². The relative permeability of M3 DIN933 Hex Screw drops to 1.005–1.20, coercivity Hc <10 A m⁻¹ and magnetic flux density B <0.05 T under an external field of 4 000 A m⁻¹. This meets stringent MRI and particle-accelerator requirements for magnetic interference ≤0.1 µT while maintaining tensile strength Rm ≥515 MPa and elongation A ≥40 %.
