ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt is a fastener designed for use in extremely cold environments! Made from ASTM A453 Gr.660 Cl.A material, it maintains excellent performance even at temperatures as low as -196°C. With a size of M24 and a length of 200mm, its threads comply with ISO 261 standards and are paired with heavy hex nuts conforming to ISO 4033, ensuring secure connections and quick installation. Suitable for applications in liquefied natural gas (LNG), cryogenic equipment, and ultra-low-temperature industrial fields, ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt is an indispensable fastener in extreme cold environments due to its outstanding low-temperature toughness and impact resistance.

After machining, ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt undergoes further surface treatment to ensure surface cleanliness and enhance corrosion resistance.

Surface Treatment
A453 Gr 660 is a nickel-based alloy material commonly used to manufacture bolts that withstand high temperatures and pressures, such as in nuclear power and petrochemical applications. Surface treatment for such bolts typically includes the following steps to improve corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and surface performance. Below is the surface treatment process for ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt:
1. Pretreatment
1.1 Cleaning

Purpose: Remove oil, rust, oxides, and other impurities from the workpiece surface to ensure the effectiveness of subsequent treatments.

Methods
Chemical Cleaning: Use alkaline or acidic cleaning agents, such as sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid, for immersion or spray cleaning of the workpiece.
Mechanical Cleaning: Use brushes, sandblasting, etc., to remove rough surface impurities.

2. Surface Treatment
2.1 Heat Treatment

Purpose: Improve the mechanical properties (e.g., hardness, strength) and toughness of the material.

Steps
Quenching: Typically heated to 800-900°C, followed by rapid cooling to enhance strength and hardness.
Tempering: Performed at 200-600°C to relieve stresses from quenching and improve toughness.

2.2 Surface Coating
2.2.1 Galvanizing

Purpose: Enhance the material's corrosion resistance.

Method
Hot-Dip Galvanizing: Immerse ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt in molten zinc to uniformly coat the surface, forming a rust-proof protective layer.

2.2.2 Aluminizing or Spray Coating
Purpose: Provide an oxidation-resistant protective layer for the bolt.

Method
Use thermal spraying or physical vapor deposition (PVD) to apply an aluminum coating on the surface of ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt, forming a high-temperature oxidation-resistant layer.

2.3 Hardening Treatment
Purpose: Improve surface wear resistance.

Method
Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) or Ion Nitriding: Introduce nitrogen or carbon into the surface of ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt at high temperatures to form a hardened layer, enhancing wear resistance.

3. Post-Treatment
3.1 Inspection and Cleaning
Purpose: Ensure the surface treatment meets standards and prepare for assembly or use.

Methods
Conduct visual inspections, surface roughness measurements, and hardness tests to ensure the surface of ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt is defect-free.
Perform a final cleaning to ensure no residual chemicals remain.

3.2 Oiling or Rust Prevention
Purpose: Prevent rust during storage and transportation.

Method
Apply rust-preventive oil to the surface of qualified ASTM A453 Gr.660 Bolt, forming a protective film.
