This M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt is manufactured strictly in accordance with DIN933 and is precision-forged from marine-grade SS316 stainless steel, delivering outstanding resistance to salt spray, acids, alkalis and high temperatures. Its overall length of 20 mm, combined with a precision M3 thread, guarantees secure and stable fastening in miniature electronic devices, medical instruments and highly corrosive marine environments.
The natural finish eliminates the need for additional coatings while providing long-term rust prevention, making it the ideal choice for anyone seeking durable, reliable connections.
M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt
SS316 (316 stainless steel) performs in extreme environments under the principle of “three highs and one stability”, and the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt concentrates all these advantages into one compact fastener:
1. High resistance to chloride-ion corrosion
Thanks to its 2 %–3 % molybdenum content, SS316 suppresses pitting and crevice corrosion in media with high chloride concentrations such as salt spray, seawater or aggressive chemicals, and its pitting potential is markedly higher than that of 304 stainless steel. Consequently, the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt remains securely locked on ship decks or offshore wind turbines without risk of loosening.

2. High-temperature oxidation resistance
At continuous service temperatures up to 870 °C, the Cr₂O₃-MoO₃ composite passive film on SS316 remains stable, and the oxidation weight-gain rate is extremely low, allowing safe use in coastal petrochemical heat exchangers and high-temperature exhaust systems. Throughout this temperature range, the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt maintains a lasting clamping force without preload loss due to oxidation-induced diameter reduction.

3. High acid and alkali resistance
Under alternating strong acid and alkali conditions from pH 1 to 12 (e.g., wet desulfurization units or electrolytic cells), the self-healing ability of the passive film keeps the metal substrate free from attack; after 1 000 h of salt-spray testing, the surface shows virtually no rust. Thus, the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt is the preferred fastener for miniature flanges on chemical equipment or sensor interfaces.

4. Long-term stability
At room temperature, atmospheric pressure and in air or fresh water, the corrosion rate of SS316 is almost negligible, and service life can reach several decades; unless exposed for extended periods to temperatures above 1 100 °C or to special media such as hydrofluoric acid, performance degradation is minimal. In outdoor infrastructure, food machinery and other long-life applications, the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt significantly reduces maintenance and replacement costs.

Usage note
• In extremely high temperatures (>1 100 °C) or coupled environments with low oxygen, low pH and high chloride levels, localized breakdown of the passive film may occur. In such cases, selecting 316L low-carbon variants or applying electropolishing/passivation is recommended to further extend the service life of the M3 Stainless Steel 316 Bolt.
