What is a Double End Stud?
A double end stud is often referred to as a"stud bolt"in engineering. Its core form is the High Strength Double End Stud, featuring a cylindrical fastener with threads machined on both ends and a plain shank (or no plain shank) in the middle.
 
1. Structural Characteristics
- Double-end threads: The thread lengths on both ends may be equal, or one end may be longer and the other shorter (for the fixed end and nut end). This type of High Strength Double End Stud is designed with full consideration of different installation requirements.  

 
- Headless design: Unlike standard hex head bolts, it has no fixed head, so it cannot be tightened with a wrench gripping a head like ordinary bolts. This is also an important characteristic that distinguishes High Strength Double End Stud from conventional fasteners.
 
2. Application Scenarios (Why not use ordinary bolts?)

- Need for precise positioning: The High Strength Double End Stud is screwed into the component and acts as a positioning"guide pin,"making it easy to accurately lower and install heavy cylinder heads or valves, significantly improving assembly efficiency and safety.  
 
- Avoiding thread damage: In applications requiring frequent disassembly of aluminum alloy housings (e.g., engine cylinder blocks), directly using bolts that are repeatedly screwed in and out can wear out the internal threads of the housing. Using a High Strength Double End Stud protects the base threads, as wear occurs only between the stud and the nut, thereby extending the service life of the equipment.
