The UNS N06022 is a nickel-based alloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance in demanding environments. Its unique chemical composition (nickel, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, etc.) grants it superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in chloride-containing environments.
 
1. Resistance to Pitting, Crevice Corrosion, and Stress Corrosion Cracking  
The Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod performs exceptionally in chloride-containing environments, primarily due to its high molybdenum (Mo) and chromium (Cr) content, which significantly enhance its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.  
 
Pitting Resistance:  
- In ASTM G48 standard testing, the critical pitting temperature (CPT) of the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod reaches 85°C, far exceeding other nickel-based alloys (e.g., C-276’s CPT is 65°C).  

 
- In a 6% FeCl₃ solution, the pitting potential (Epit) is 1.2 V, indicating its high stability in chloride-containing environments.  
 
Crevice Corrosion Resistance:  
- In a 10% FeCl₃ + 1% HCl solution, the critical crevice temperature (CCT) of the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod is 70°C, significantly better than the C-276 alloy (CCT of 50°C).  
- In seawater environments, the crevice corrosion rate is below 0.01 mm/year, almost negligible.  
 
Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance:  
- In a boiling 42% MgCl₂ solution, the stress corrosion cracking time (SCC)  exceeds 1000 hours, far surpassing other alloys (e.g., 316L stainless steel’s SCC time is only 24 hours).  

 
- In high-temperature, high-pressure chloride-containing environments, the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, making it suitable for critical components in chemical equipment.  
 
2. Performance in Oxidizing and Reducing Media  
The Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod performs exceptionally in both oxidizing and reducing media, withstanding various strong acids and complex chemical environments.  
 
Hydrochloric Acid (HCl):  
- In a 20% HCl solution, the corrosion rate of the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod is below 0.1 mm/year, demonstrating excellent corrosion resistance.  

 
- At high temperatures (80°C), the corrosion rate of the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod remains below 0.5 mm/year, far superior to other alloys.  
 
Sulfuric Acid (H₂SO₄):  
- In a 10% H₂SO₄ solution, the corrosion rate is below 0.05 mm/year.  
- In a 50% H₂SO₄ solution, the corrosion rate is below 0.2 mm/year, showing high stability.  
 
Nitric Acid (HNO₃):  
- In a 65% HNO₃ solution, the corrosion rate is below 0.01 mm/year, making it suitable for highly oxidizing environments.  
 
Phosphoric Acid (H₃PO₄):  
- In an 85% H₃PO₄ solution, the corrosion rate of the Hastelloy C-22 Thread Rod is below 0.1 mm/year, demonstrating excellent corrosion resistance.  
 
Hydrofluoric Acid (HF):
