ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud is made of chrome-moly alloy steel, delivering 860 MPa strength, high-temperature endurance and fatigue resistance. The black-phosphated surface prevents corrosion; the 3/4"× 100 mm precision thread installs quickly without tapping. It is the first-choice fastener for flanged joints on petro-chemical valves, pressure vessels and high-pressure pumps. Ex-stock immediate dispatch; third-party inspection supported.
 
How does ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud differ from B7M studs?  
B7 and B7M both belong to the ASTM A193 high-temperature/high-pressure alloy-steel family. A single added “M” rewrites strength, hardness, inspection rules and field of use.

2. Field stories  
a) South-Sea gas platform  
Wet gas contains 5 % H₂S; spec says “all fasteners must pass NACE”. If ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud (30 HRC) is wrongly installed, it sits in the SSC-sensitive zone; after three months the studs snap and the platform shuts in. Switch to B7M (≤ 22 HRC) and the problem disappears—the “M” is a life-insurance policy.
 
b) In-land refinery recycle-hydrogen line  
420 °C, 10 MPa, virtually no H₂S. To save money the owner picks B7M. With 15 % lower strength than ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud, the flange joint creeps; two weeks after start-up it leaks. Lesson: no acid, no sacrifice in strength.
 
c) Mixer-up in an equipment shop  
Night-shift mixes 1” ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud with B7M on the same reactor flange. Stud 32 HRC, nut 200 HB—hardness reversed. While torquing, the nut threads are “chewed off”; the joint cannot be tightened and the whole vessel is reworked. Correct pairs are “ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud + 2H” or “B7M + 2HM”; the hardness ladder must descend.
 
3. Tell them apart in one look  
1. Marking: every B7M bar is stamped “B7M + mill logo + heat number”; ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud only carries a lot mark.  
2. Colour: many mills give B7M a green flake or copper finish; ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud stays black or electro-zinc.  
3. Certificate: B7M is shipped with 3.1 cert plus NACE statement; ASTM A193 B7 Double End Stud usually comes with 3.1 only.
