Mechanical Property Testing
Tensile Testing Procedure:

According to ASTM E8 standards, the raw material samples of A453 Gr 660B Stud Bolts are prepared into standard tensile test shapes. During tensile testing, the sample preparation must comply with ASTM E8 requirements to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of test results. Below are specific instructions for the tensile test sample shape:

Sample Preparation Requirements
1. Standard Shape: Samples are prepared into standard parallel beam or slender strip shapes, typically with rectangular cross-sections. The shape requirements are as follows:
Length (L): Typically 200 mm (but can be shortened or lengthened based on actual needs, ensuring proportionality).
Width (W): Commonly 10 mm, with specific width adjustable based on material properties and testing requirements.
Thickness (T): Typically 3 mm, but the width-to-thickness ratio should be maintained to ensure the sample does not rupture due to excessive fragility during testing.

2. Gauge Length: A gauge region is marked in the middle of the sample, which is the critical area for tensile testing. The gauge length is generally 50 mm (±0.5 mm), and this region must have a smooth, defect-free surface.

3. Surface Treatment: Before tensile testing, the sample surface must be cleaned of oil, rust, or other impurities to avoid affecting the test results. Special solvents can be used for cleaning.
4. Cutting Method: Samples are cut using appropriate methods (e.g., laser cutting, punching) to ensure smooth edges and no cracks.

5. Processing Method: Samples undergo heat treatment or cold working based on material properties and application requirements. If mechanical properties need to be altered, corresponding processing must be performed during preparation.
Testing Operation
During the tensile testing process, the raw material samples of A453 Gr 660B Stud Bolts are handled and tested according to ASTM E8 procedures to ensure data reliability and accuracy.
After setting up the sample, it is placed into the tensile testing machine, and a uniform tensile force is applied until the sample fractures. Key mechanical property data such as ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation are recorded.

Finally, the test data is compared with standard data to determine whether the raw material of A453 Gr 660B Stud Bolts meets the qualification criteria.
