High-temperature C4400 Gasket is manufactured from Klingersil C4400 aramid-fiber + nitrile-rubber composite sheet, rated to 400 °C and certified to ASME B16.5. Supplied as a complete set with G10 insulating sleeves & washers and ZPS metal hardware, it delivers outstanding sealing, electrical insulation and anti-creep performance—an ideal choice for high-temperature flange connections in petrochemical, power and marine applications.

Functions of the aramid fiber and nitrile rubber inside High-temperature C4400 Gasket?
Division of labour – aramid fiber vs. nitrile rubber
1. Aramid fiber
- Skeleton: retains ≥70 % tensile strength at 400 °C, giving High-temperature C4400 Gasket hot resilience and blow-out resistance.
- Dimensional stability: linear thermal expansion ≈ –2.4×10⁻⁶ /°C—only one-tenth that of PTFE—so High-temperature C4400 Gasket stays tight after flange thermal cycles.
- Electrical insulation: volume resistivity 10¹⁴ Ω·cm; combined with G10 sleeves it provides galvanic isolation up to 1 000 V for cathodic-protection duties.

2. Nitrile rubber (NBR)
- Elastic binder: after curing it forms “soft nodes” that fill micro-voids in the flange faces; initial leakage of High-temperature C4400 Gasket <1×10⁻⁴ mbar·l/s.

- Oil & fuel resistance: volume swell in alkanes, lube oils and sulphur-bearing fuels <3 %, far better than EPDM (>15 %), so High-temperature C4400 Gasket keeps its thickness.

- Damping: loss factor tan δ = 0.18 absorbs 50-500 Hz piping vibration, cutting bolt fatigue by 30 % and extending High-temperature C4400 Gasket life.
Comparisons – why High-temperature C4400 Gasket is superior

- VS pure graphite gasket: at 400 °C High-temperature C4400 Gasket gives 55 % compression-recovery, graphite only 25 %; 40 % lower stress loss after thermal cycling—no blow-out risk.

- VS traditional asbestos-rubber sheet: High-temperature C4400 Gasket is TA-Luft & DVGW certified, leakage <0.01 mg/(m·s), meeting VOC <10 ppm environmental limits.

- VS PTFE gasket: NBR gives High-temperature C4400 Gasket creep relaxation of only 37 MPa (175 °C/16 h) vs. 55 MPa for PTFE—bolt re-torque frequency halved.

- VS metal serrated gasket: density 1.7 g/cm³, 80 % lighter; hand-tool assembly, no welded lips or surface re-machining cost.

Field examples
- Coastal 300 MW gas-fired plant: 4″ 150 LB steam-drain valve originally used SS/graphite spiral-wound gasket, leaking 6×/year. After switching to High-temperature C4400 Gasket insulating set, zero leakage for 18 months; valve body galvanically isolated from carbon-steel piping, stray-current corrosion rate dropped from 0.12 mm/a to 0.02 mm/a.

- Offshore FPSO crude off-loading arm: medium 60 °C sulphur-containing crude, 10 bar, periodic 180 °C steam-out. High-temperature C4400 Gasket retained 35 MPa gasket stress after 400 thermal cycles and passed API 6FA fire test, saving USD 80 000 per shutdown for gasket replacement.

Conclusion
Aramid supplies high-temperature strength and electrical insulation; nitrile provides elastic sealing and oil/chemical resistance. Together they make High-temperature C4400 Gasket combine “the heat resistance of metal, the sealability of rubber and the insulation of plastic”—virtually unbeatable for hot, oily, electrically isolated flange duties.
