From the communication, it was clear that the client did not understand insulation gasket kit and only provided quantity and dimensions,
asking us to quote based on standard practice.
A proper quotation normally requires dimensions, pressure, material, quantity, and standard.
Generally, if the client is unsure about materials, we can quote with standard materials.
However, for things like pressure and dimensions, there is no such thing as a default pressure standard
— the quotation must be based on engineering requirements and the matching flange pressure.

March 2, 2026 We are quoting based on G10 + PTFE material.
The client informed me that the pressure was 300psi.
I quoted the most standard material: G10 + PTFE.
The client said that as long as the material was clearly stated in the quotation,
that was fine — the most important thing was that the dimensions met the requirements.
After the quotation was sent, the client went silent again...

May 12, 2026 Customer inquires about price for updated insulation gasket
The client updated the inquiry.
The content looked very similar to the previous one, but with additional photos and some details.
The inquiry was still rather vague, and it seemed the end user was not very familiar with insulation gasket sets either.
└Chinese client sent specific gasket kit needs: G10+PTFE gasket, sleeves, washers, etc.
After asking about some specifications and quantities, we decided to quote directly based on the drawings.
The materials quoted were: Gasket G10 + Viton O-Ring Seal, Type F, Sleeve G10, Washer G10, Steel Washer ZPS.
Since the client didn't understand much, we tried our best to help them with the quotation.

May 13, 2026 Price negotiation
The client negotiated on price.
The order quantity was not large, so we normally quote relatively low, using thin margins to secure the first cooperation with the client.
A moderate price adjustment is acceptable, but if it means losing money, there is no real point.
So after the client pushed for a large reduction and repeated negotiation, I chose to give my bottom price
— if we could close the deal, it would be like making a friend.
└Chinese client negotiated the final gasket price with us, closing the deal at 2500 RMB.
Payment method negotiation
After that, the client wanted to pay only 1/5 of the order value as a deposit,
with the rest paid after the goods were ready and photos were taken.
Our policy is that only orders over USD 3,000 can use T/T 30% deposit, 70% balance payment terms.
This amount was really too small, so at first I hoped the client could pay in full.
I then communicated with my supervisor.
Perhaps because the client was not familiar with insulation gasket kit, they were not comfortable paying in full.
So we proposed paying 1/2 of the order value as a deposit, and the client agreed.

Insulation gasket parameter confirmation
Next, the client confirmed the rating with me again.
At first, since the client wanted the ANSI standard, I definitely quoted based on 300# pressure,
because the ANSI B16.5 flange standard does not use psi — it uses the Class system.
So I guessed that the end user had confused psi with class.
I asked the client to confirm again, and the reply was indeed 300#.
A short while later, the client transferred the deposit.
└After confirming the 300LB pressure gasket, the Chinese client paid the deposit.
May 25, 2026 Insulation gasket production is completed.
After the insulation gasket kits were produced, I sent photos of products to the client for confirmation.
Once the balance was paid, I arranged the courier delivery.
