ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe complies with ASTM standards and is made of A213 T22 material (2.25Cr-1Mo), offering excellent high-temperature resistance, high-pressure capability, and corrosion resistance. With specifications of Φ89mm outer diameter and 9mm wall thickness (Schedule 80), the pipe features a red painted surface. ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe is widely used in high-temperature and high-pressure environments such as boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers, making it an ideal choice for industries like power generation, petrochemicals, and energy.

1. Overview of Manufacturing Process for ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe
ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe is primarily manufactured through two methods: hot rolling and cold drawing, with the core objective of achieving a seamless tubular structure through plastic deformation. This eliminates weld defects (e.g., porosity, slag inclusions, lack of fusion), significantly enhancing pressure-bearing safety.

Compared to welded pipes (e.g., ERW, LSAW), ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe demonstrates superior performance in high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive environments, particularly in critical applications such as boilers, petrochemical plants, and nuclear power facilities.

2. Hot Rolling Process for ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe
2.1 Process Flow
1) Billet Heating: Alloy steel billets of T22 material are heated to 1100°C–1250°C (austenitizing temperature).
2) Piercing: A skew rolling piercer converts solid billets into hollow shells (wall thickness tolerance ≈ ±12%).
3) Tube Rolling: Shells are rolled to target dimensions (e.g., Φ89×9mm) via a multi-stand pipe mill (MPM) or automatic rolling mill.
4) Sizing & Cooling: The pipe undergoes diameter adjustment in a stretch-reducing mill, followed by air cooling or controlled cooling.

2.2 Key Parameters & Advantages
- Production Efficiency: Single-unit output reaches 20–50 tons/hour, suitable for mass production.
- Size Range: Typically applicable to medium/large-diameter pipes (Φ21mm–Φ426mm).
- Mechanical Properties: As-hot-rolled ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe has a yield strength ≥205 MPa but requires subsequent heat treatment (normalizing + tempering) to meet ASTM A213 standards.

- Advantages:
  - Uniform Microstructure: High-temperature deformation refines grains, improving creep resistance.
  - Low Residual Stress: Compared to cold-drawn pipes, hot-rolled pipes exhibit lower residual stress, making them ideal for high-temperature service.
3. Cold Drawing Process for ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe
3.1 Process Flow
1) Billet Preparation: Hot-rolled ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe undergoes pickling (HCl or H₂SO₄) to remove scale.
2) Phosphating & Soaping: A lubricating coating is applied to reduce friction during cold drawing.
3) Cold Drawing:
   - Plug Drawing (thick-walled pipes): 20%–40% deformation, outer diameter tolerance ±0.2mm.
   - Sink Drawing (thin-walled pipes): 10%–25% deformation, wall thickness tolerance ±8%.
4) Heat Treatment: Post-drawing annealing (650°C–750°C) eliminates work hardening.

3.2 Key Parameters & Advantages
- Dimensional Precision: Outer diameter tolerance ±0.05mm (precision grade), far exceeding hot-rolled pipes (±0.8%).
- Surface Finish: Ra ≤1.6μm, suitable for applications requiring high smoothness (e.g., hydraulic and instrumentation piping).
- Mechanical Properties: Cold working increases yield strength by 10%–20%, though elongation slightly decreases.

- Advantages:
  - High Strength: Customizable pressure-bearing capacity via work hardening.
  - Flexible Small-Batch Production: Ideal for small-diameter pipes (Φ6mm–Φ150mm).

4. Quality Control & Inspection Standards for ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Pipe
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
  - Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Detects flaws ≥Φ2mm (ASTM E213).
  - Eddy Current Testing (ET): Identifies surface cracks (ASTM E309).

- Mechanical Testing:
  - Batch sampling for tensile, hardness, and impact tests (Charpy V-notch impact ≥27J at -20°C).

- Metallographic Analysis:
  - Grain size verification (5–8 grade) and carbide distribution checks (avoiding Cr₂₃C₆ precipitation-induced embrittlement).
