Welding Neck Flange ANSI 150
One-Minute Overview
- Welding neck flange with a tapered neck that spreads pipe stress away from the flange face.
- Sizes 1/2 to 56 inch at 150LB, with wall schedules from SCH 5S to SCH160/XXS.
- Raised face RF sealing, dimensioned to ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B16.47 A/B.
- Carbon, stainless, alloy or duplex steel, for oil, chemical, gas and power piping.
A WN flange is butt welded to the pipe, and its tapered neck makes the wall thickness change gradually from pipe to flange. That transition spreads the load of a hot, cyclic or high pressure line along the neck instead of concentrating it at the sealing face. The series runs from 1/2 to 56 inch at 150LB, with bores cut to wall schedules from SCH 5S to SCH160/XXS.
Name: Flange WN ANSI 150
Type: WN
Size: 1/2 inch - 56 inch
Pressure: 150LB
Schedule: SCH 5S - SCH160/XXS
Flange Face: RF
Material: Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel, Duplex Steel
Standard: ANSI B16.5, ANSI B16.47 A/B
Order the bore together with the pipe schedule, because the neck is machined to the wall thickness and the range here covers SCH 5S through SCH160/XXS. The raised face takes a standard 150LB gasket, and the bolt circle and drilling are held to ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B16.47 A/B, so the flange bolts to standard fittings of the same size and class. Weld the neck to the pipe, inspect the joint, then bring the two faces together with the gasket in place and tighten the studs in a star pattern. Bodies in carbon, stainless, alloy and duplex steel let the flange follow the pipe metallurgy on oil, chemical, natural gas and power lines.
