KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket is purpose-built for ASME B16.5 150 lb 8″ piping, withstands 400 °C and is made from an aramid-fibre / nitrile-rubber composite that remains dense and leak-free; G10 insulating sleeves, washers and ZPS steel inserts are supplied as one kit for fast installation—making it the first-choice safe seal for chemical plants, power stations and LNG modules.
KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket is a general-purpose asbestos-free sheet based on aramid fibre reinforced with nitrile binder. Density 1.75 g/cm³, compression 8 %, recovery >40 %; at 400 °C / 50 bar it meets DIN 3535 with a gas-leakage rate <0.05 mg/(s·m). These properties enable KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket to deliver long-term reliability in water, gas, hydrocarbons, alkalis, medium-strength acids, steam, fuel oil, alcohol, lubricants and refrigerants.
1. Water & steam
The aramid/nitrile system of KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket loses <3 % thickness and retains ≥85 % tensile strength after 1 000 h in 200 °C saturated steam, fully satisfying the German VDI 2440 “S2” grade for steam sealing. In 2021 a 2×350 MW Chinese power plant fitted KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket to the 6″-150 lb seawater circuit of its condenser; after 26 months’ operation no visible leakage was found, the gasket remained elastic and the flange faces were corrosion-free during the outage inspection.

2. Hydrocarbons & fuel oil
ASTM F146 immersion in ASTM No. 3 oil (150 °C×70 h) shows only 6 % weight gain and <4 % thickness swell, far below the 25 % limit. A 1 Mt/a diesel hydrotreater in Sinopec installed KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket on the DN200 PN50 flange at the inlet of the reaction-product air cooler, replacing a spiral-wound gasket that had to be re-tightened every six months; after 18 months of continuous running no odour leakage occurred and VOC readings dropped from 210 ppm to <10 ppm.

3. Alkalis & medium-strength acids
After 168 h in 30 % NaOH at 80 °C the weight change is 0.8 % and tensile strength loss <5 %; in 20 % H₂SO₄ at 100 °C the weight change is 2.2 %, still meeting HG/T 20633-2009 “acid-resistant” gasket requirements. A Xinjiang chlor-alkali producer formerly used EPDM gaskets (6-month life) on the 10″-150 lb catholyte circulation line of its electrolyser; since switching to 3 mm KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket the joint has run for 30 months without cracking or delamination.

Weight gain in absolute ethanol (23 °C×168 h) is 0.3 %; R134a permeation at 60 °C / 2 MPa for 24 h is <0.1 kg/m², well under the EPA limit of ≤0.5 kg/m² for refrigerant seals. Tsingtao Brewery fitted KLINGERSIL C4400 Non-metallic Gasket to 4″-150 lb flanges on the CO₂ recovery system of fermentation tanks, achieving “zero” ethanol odour emissions and passing the local environmental bureau’s LDAR audit.
