Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer is a 6"150 LB insulating spacer engineered for highly-corrosive service from cryogenic (-268 °C) to high temperature (260 °C).
Manufactured from high-performance modified-PTFE Gylon 3500 sheet in accordance with ASME B16.5, each complete set includes G10 insulating sleeve, insulating washers and ZPS steel hardware, delivering outstanding electrical isolation and sealing performance. It effectively prevents flange galvanic corrosion and fluid leakage, making it the ideal choice for critical flange joints in LNG, refinery and offshore-platform applications.

How many kinds of insulating gaskets are there?
The “insulating gasket” often mentioned on the shop floor is actually a large family. Grouped by material–structure–function, it can be subdivided into nine main types.
Grasp the four key indexes—temperature rating, pressure rating, fluid compatibility and electrical isolation—and you can select the right model in seconds.

1. PTFE gasket – the “King of Plastics”.
   -268 °C to 260 °C, resistant to acids, alkalis and solvents; electrical strength >60 kV/mm; extremely low friction.
   Suitable for LNG, chlor-alkali, food and pharmaceutical clean piping; pressure ≤ PN25; most economical with stainless-steel flanges.
   When the service is more severe, upgrade directly to Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer for simultaneous sealing and isolation improvement.

2. Modified-PTFE gasket – pure PTFE filled with glass fibre, barium sulphate, etc.
   Recovery increased by 30 %, creep reduced by 50 %; can replace spiral-wound gaskets on 150 LB and 300 LB flanges and overcome PTFE cold-flow.
   First choice for chemical and paper plants.

 If a ready-made kit is required, Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer includes G10 sleeve and phenolic washers in one step.

3. Rubber gaskets (NBR / EPDM / VMQ / FKM) – good elasticity, easy to install and remove.
   NBR: oil resistant, used in hydraulic stations.
   EPDM: ozone and steam resistant, for roof fans and potable water up to 85 °C.
   Silicone- rubber VMQ: food grade, -60 °C to 200 °C, for ovens and medical equipment.
   FKM: fuel and high-temperature resistant to 250 °C, for aircraft and engines.
   When high electrical isolation is still demanded, return to the Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer solution.

4. Mica gasket – muscovite to 500 °C, phlogopite to 800 °C; dielectric breakdown >20 kV; no weight loss at high temperature.
   The “fire-proof gasket” for electrode sealing and electrical isolation in arc furnaces, aluminium smelters and electro-slag furnaces.
   When both low-temperature and corrosion resistance are required, switch to Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer.

5. Ceramic-fibre gasket – short-term limit 1260 °C, thermal conductivity <0.13 W·m⁻¹·K⁻¹; can be die-cut into insulation rings for flues, furnace doors and ladle covers.
   With stainless-steel wire reinforcement it can withstand 0.3 MPa internal pressure.
   If the flange still needs electrical isolation, Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer is the more balanced choice.

6. Graphite gasket – pure graphite or metal-tanged graphite, -200 °C to 550 °C, wide chemical resistance, 40 % recovery, used in reactors, heat exchangers and valves.
   However, it is electrically conductive and cannot provide electrical isolation.
   The only alternative is Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer.

7. Non-asbestos fibre gasket – aramid / carbon fibre with NBR rubber, calendered, green replacement for asbestos; resistant to oil, gas and water; -50 °C to 300 °C, pressure ≤ PN40; common in ships, automobiles and petrochemical plants.
   When the medium contains strong acid or cryogenic LNG, change to Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer.

8. Nylon / epoxy / Mylar plastic gasket – high mechanical strength, low water absorption; can be machined into complex-shaped insulation plates for transformers, motor slot wedges and terminal boards; working temperature -40 °C to 120 °C.
   If the part is large and must carry load, adopt Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer first.

9. Composite isolation kit (Gylon 3500 + G10 sleeve) – dedicated to preventing galvanic corrosion on high-pressure flanges; -268 °C to 260 °C, 150 LB; provides PTFE sealing + glass-fibre sleeve + phenolic washer in one unit; standard configuration for LNG, offshore platforms and refinery hydro-treating units.

Its core is exactly Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer—one kit solves both sealing and electrical isolation.

Quick-selection jingle:
Cryogenic LNG → PTFE; high-temperature furnace → ceramic fibre;
Need both seal and isolation → mica, epoxy, Gylon 3500 Insulating Spacer;
Oil, water, steam → rubber; strong acid, strong alkali → modified PTFE;
High pressure & high temperature & conductive → spiral-wound graphite;
Green, asbestos-free → aramid fibre does it all.
