Forged Carbon Steel Flange
One-Minute Overview
- Forged carbon steel flange in six types, from slip-on through to socket weld.
- ASME B16.5 dimensions, 150LB to 2500LB, sizes 1/2 to 24 inch.
- RF or FF sealing faces; threaded versions come with NPT or BSP threads.
- Each lot is traceable from billet inspection through to final NDT.
This forged carbon steel flange line covers the six types a piping specification usually asks for: slip-on, weld neck, threaded, blind, lap joint and socket weld. All are made to ASME B16.5, in pressure classes from 150LB to 2500LB and sizes from 1/2 to 24 inch, with raised face or flat face sealing. Water distribution, oil gathering and gas transmission are the everyday duties.

Choose by how the flange meets the pipe. Slip-on and socket weld take single-sided fillet welds; weld neck takes a double-sided butt weld; threaded versions screw on and are supplied with NPT or BSP threads. A blind closes a joint, a lap joint backs a stub end, and a socket weld suits small bore work where a full penetration weld is awkward. Class and face follow the joint, not the flange. 150LB and 300LB cover most plant water and utility lines, while 600LB and above appear on oil gathering and gas transmission work, where 2500LB may be specified at the wellhead or a compressor station. RF is the default against a raised face mating flange; FF is used where a flat face joint is required. Every lot is checked from raw billet inspection through to final NDT, so the material and the test record travel with the flange.
