One-Minute Overview

  • Forged carbon steel 10# blind flange closing a 1 inch Class 300 opening.
  • Stiff plate and raised face give a firm, sealed shut off.
  • Black anti-rust coating protects the faces in storage and transit.
  • ASME B16.5 drilling lets it replace an existing blind without re-drilling.

The forged BL blind flange closes a 1 inch Class 300 flange joint with a solid plate instead of a pipe run. It is forged from carbon steel 10# and machined with a raised face, so the gasket seats on a defined band and the plate keeps its stiffness under bolt load. Dimensions and drilling follow ASME B16.5, which means the blind takes the place of an existing one in the same size and class.

Name: Forged BL Blind Flange
Size: 1"
Class: 300LB
Material: Carbon Steel 10#
Process: Forged Steel Flange
Face: Raised Face
Coating: Black Anti-rust Coating
Standard: ASME B16.5
Customization: Yes

Forging refines the grain of the plate and closes internal porosity, so the blind holds pressure without the weakness a cast or rolled plate can carry at its centre. The raised face is machined to take a spiral wound or graphite sheet gasket, and the bolt circle follows the standard drilling template, so the blind swaps in against an existing weld neck or slip on flange of the same class with no re-drilling and no new gasket size.

Use it at the end of a header, on a spare vessel nozzle or across a branch that is not commissioned yet. Custom thicknesses, bore sizes for future tapping and special coatings are available on request. Leave the anti-rust coating on the outside faces until the joint is made, and wipe the raised face clean before the gasket goes in, so the seal sits on bare metal.

FAQ

Q1. What is a BL blind flange actually for?

It seals the end of a line or a vessel opening. Rather than a valve, which can be left open by mistake, a blind is a solid plate bolted across the joint, so the closure is visible and positive. That makes it the usual choice for spare nozzles, future tie-in points and sections opened for maintenance.

Q2. Will it fit the blind already on my line?

Yes, provided the size and class match. ASME B16.5 fixes the plate thickness, the bolt circle and the bolt hole spacing, so a 1 inch Class 300 blind lands on the same drilling as the weld neck or slip on flange it mates with. Check the raised face height against the mating face before you torque up.

Q3. Do I have to strip the black coating off?

Only where the seal is made. The coating is there to stop rust in storage and transit, so leave it on the outside faces and the edges. Clean it off the raised face, because the gasket has to sit on bare metal to grip; coating trapped under a gasket will creep and start a leak at pressure.

Q4. What payment terms do you accept?

T/T, L/C at sight and other internationally accepted terms. The exact terms are agreed with you before production starts, because the payment schedule has to match the order value, the shipping method and the delivery schedule you need — which is also why we confirm them up front rather than after shipment.
